The Kia Niro is built on the same platform as the Hyundai Kona: Both use the same front-wheel drive motors and house their battery packs in the same spot beneath the seats. Like the Kona, the Niro is all about providing Tesla-like range in a familiar and affordable format. The subcompact SUV starts at about $39,450 and, other than the stippled panel and connector flap where a grille usually goes, looks just like the gas-powered Kia Niro.
