OPEC is kinda like an international boy band, except instead of music, it produces oil. When one member of the band leaves, it’s a bummer for fans. And there’s been more than a few dropouts as of late: Indonesia in 2016, Qatar in 2019, Ecuador in 2020 and Angola in 2023. Still, we can liken those exits to losing ancillary musicians — sometimes you gotta find a new aux guy because Pete has a herniated disc. Or maybe you need to replace Jerry, your bassist, because his wife can’t take the tour bus life any longer.
