Climate Strike Protesters Flood the Streets Around the Globe
Following the #climatestrike sweeping the world.
Millions of climate protesters took to the streets across the globe on Friday in a day of action demanding more aggressive action against global warming.
In many places, they were led by striking school children and students, part of a growing movement to boycott lessons inspired by teenage activist Greta Thunberg. Rallying to the tag #climatestrike, demonstrators marched in Asian capitals from Taipei to Dhaka. In Australia, more than 300,000 people were reported to have gathered at more than 100 places.
In Europe, where almost every capital city witnessed demonstrations, one of the days biggest events was in Berlin, where political leaders agreed upon a more radical plan to decarbonize Europe’s largest economy.
