Lufthansa Considers Adding Refueling Stops to Now-Direct Flights

Deutsche Lufthansa AG is drawing up contingency plans for potential fuel shortages this summer that include adding stops to flights that currently are nonstop, highlighting the strains caused by the siege of the Strait of Hormuz.

“Through the end of June, we expect fuel supplies — especially at our hubs — to remain fully secure,” Chief Financial Officer Till Streichert said during an earnings-related call Wednesday. “At the same time, we are preparing for alternative scenarios should that situation change.”
