Denmark’s acting prime minister, Mette Frederiksen, said she will drop her proposal to introduce a wealth tax, thereby removing a key hurdle in talks to form a new government.

There isn’t a parliamentary majority backing the idea, which Frederiksen floated in February when she called general elections, she said in a speech on Friday. She added that her party could introduce alternative measures “that will work to counter inequality in our society.”
