Colgate Growth Beats as Global Consumers Offset US Weakness

Colgate-Palmolive Co. organic sales rose at their fastest clip in five quarters with stronger-than-expected growth in its international and pet nutrition segments, offsetting weak performance in North America.

“Our sales growth was led by emerging markets,” said Chief Executive Officer Noel Wallace on Friday’s earnings call, adding that that’s where the company’s brands have higher market shares and the greatest scale advantages. “We believe emerging markets are accretive in terms of growth prospects and are investing in them accordingly.”
