Abraham was studying in a synagogue in Golders Green, north London, on Wednesday morning when someone rushed in with a warning: lock the doors, an attacker is on the rampage. Just outside, two Jewish men had been stabbed. Police surrounded the assailant, and arrested him on suspicion of attempted murder. For the 40–year-old Israeli, a visit to friends became a reminder of how quickly a sense of normality can shatter, even far from home.
“We pray for peace,” said Abraham, declining to give his surname, as he walked near the site the following day.
