Thomson Family Gets Special Payout as AI Hits Reuters Stock

The Thomson family is on track to reap more than $500 million from their eponymous company even as its shares have been among the hardest hit by the threat of artificial intelligence.

Toronto-based Thomson Reuters Corp. announced this week that shareholders had approved a special cash distribution of $605 million. Because the Thomson family holds about 71% of Thomson Reuters shares, they could see about $430 million from that dividend.
