DOJ Readies Fed Subpoena Appeal After Closing Powell Probe
The US Justice Department plans to file an appeal by Monday against a federal judge’s ruling that blocked prosecutors from using grand jury subpoenas during their investigation into building-cost overruns by the Federal Reserve.
Justice Department officials, led by US Attorney Jeanine Pirro, have said they need to appeal US District Chief Judge James Boasberg’s quashing of two grand jury subpoenas because, if allowed to stand, it would undercut a key investigative tool for prosecutors.
