Credit Agricole SA’s first-quarter earnings missed analysts’ estimates while a key metric of capital strength declined, sending shares of the French lender lower.

Net income of €1.68 billion euros fell short of the €1.71 billion analysts had expected, weighed down by 9% lower revenue in the fixed income business and a 6% drop in financing revenue. While structured equity, M&A and equity capital markets fared well, with a 27% gain, revenue from corporate and investment banking overall fell 4% from a year earlier.
