Chinese Officials Speak to Bessent, Rubio About Taiwan, Trade

Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi about the Iran war and an upcoming leaders’ summit between Donald Trump and Xi Jinping, China’s state Xinhua News Agency reported on Thursday.

Rubio and Wang exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East, Xinhua said, with the Chinese official saying the two countries should manage differences, maintain hard-won stability and prepare well for key high-level interactions. Wang also stressed that Taiwan remained the biggest risk to bilateral ties with the US.
