Keir Starmer’s governing Labour Party is set to lose 1,850 seats in a crunch set of local elections next week, according to analysis by an expert in UK local voting, signaling an outcome that may put the premier’s position in peril.

With the Tories also set to shed 600 councilors, the main beneficiaries are likely to be Nigel Farage’s Reform UK, gaining 1,550 seats, and the Greens winning some 500, according to Robert Hayward, a Conservative peer who specializes in studying local voting.
