Florida’s legislature on Wednesday backed Governor Ron DeSantis’ bid to redraw the state’s congressional districts in an effort to secure as many as four additional US House seats for Republicans in November’s midterm elections.

In a special session called by DeSantis, the House vote was 83-28. The state Senate soon followed, approving the legislation in a 21-17 vote.
