The advent of the AI era is canceling out some of the inflationary impact of the energy price surge from the Middle East war, helping markets absorb the shock, Norway’s sovereign wealth fund Chief Executive Officer Nicolai Tangen said.

“It’s remarkable because based on what’s going on in the Middle East, you would expect this to feed through higher energy prices, higher fuel prices, fertilizer prices,” Tangen said in an interview on Bloomberg Television on Tuesday ahead of the fund’s 2026 Investment Conference in Oslo.
