Meloni Backs Italy’s Justice Minister Over Pardon of Berlusconi Ally

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni backed her justice minister over his role in a controversial pardon of a former showgirl and close associate of Silvio Berlusconi.

“I have confidence in Minister Carlo Nordio,” Meloni told reporters Tuesday, saying the clemency process had followed the law. She ruled out his resignation “as of today,” but said the case warrants further review.
