Denmark’s employed workforce shrank for the first time since mid-2024, as layoffs at Novo Nordisk A/S began to show up in official data.

The number of people in paid employment fell by 1,100 in February from the previous month, driven in part by declines in industrial jobs, Statistics Denmark said Tuesday. It snapped a 17-month run of uninterrupted growth, adding to signs of weakening in the Nordic country’s labor market.
