Hampshire College Closure Sparks a Race for Displaced Students
The closing of Hampshire College has kicked off a race for its displaced students.
When the Amherst, Massachusetts, school announced earlier this month that it would shutter by year’s end, other institutions rushed to make their pitches. Drew University, located in the tony New Jersey suburb of Madison, is offering a coupon code to waive application fees and dangling at least $20,000 in aid, while officials at Elms College – a Catholic institution about a 30-minute drive away from Hampshire – are touting $10,000 of scholarships and grants.
