Army Moves Ahead With Delay-Plagued General Dynamics Ammo Plant

The US Army will proceed with a $591 million General Dynamics Corp. contract to start production at an artillery-ammunition factory after severe delays prompted a review of whether the project should be canceled.

A work-stoppage order on the factory in Mesquite, Texas was lifted on April 3 after eight months, the service said in a statement, without detailing why the pause went into effect — or why it was lifted. The plant, which was meant to have three lines making 30,000 155mm artillery shells a month, has yet to produce a single casing.
