France and Greece renewed their defense pact, shoring up their alliance at a time when European nations seek to further boost their deterrence strategy.
The two countries agreed to extend their defense agreement — first signed in 2021 — for another five years, and to an automatic renewal after that. The two governments also signed a series of other agreements on further boosting cooperation in areas including foreign policy, as well as a joint declaration of intent for the establishment of cooperation in nuclear technology.
