Mortgage Rates in US Fall for Third Week, Dropping to 6.23%

US mortgage rates fell for a third week, easing pressure on homebuyers as the crucial spring selling season gets underway.

The average rate for 30-year, fixed loans was 6.23%, down from 6.3% last week, Freddie Mac reported on Thursday. A year earlier it was 6.81%.
