Billionaires’ Row Towers Are Flashpoint for NYC Tax on Rich

When Mayor Zohran Mamdani declared a new tax was coming for wealthy property owners in New York City, he wanted to make clear it was “designed for the richest of the rich.”

So he stood outside 220 Central Park South, pointed to the limestone-clad supertall skyscraper — and in a video that’s gone viral on social media — slammed those “who store their wealth in New York City real estate” while living elsewhere.
