UK Links France’s Border Plan Funding to Performance in New Deal

Photographer: Tom Nicholson/Getty ImagesThe UK and France have agreed a new £660 million ($891 million) deal aimed at reducing the flow of migrants crossing the English Channel, making British funding conditional on results for the first time.
The two countries have been locked in negotiations since a previous deal expired at the end of March. France had initially pushed back against Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood’s insistence that UK contributions should be contingent on the interception rate of boats attempting to cross the Channel.
