Callaway Arts & Entertainment Inc., the publisher behind Madonna’s 1992 book Sex and more a recent retrospective on Bob Dylan, is attempting to sell its assets or merge with a larger publishing house after filing for bankruptcy.

The publisher in court papers blamed its bankruptcy in-part on “predatory alternative lenders” that saddled the company with expensive debt. Company owner Nicholas Callaway said during a Wednesday bankruptcy hearing in New York that the business needed financing to complete work on Bob Dylan: Mixing the Medicine, which took four years “and several million dollars” to complete.
