Poland Fines Luxury Car Trader for Illegal Exports to Russia
A total of 100 vehicles from makers including BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Lamborgini, Porsche and Bentley were identified to be part of the illegal trade.
Photographer: Akos Stiller/BloombergPoland has fined a local company 20 million zloty ($5.5 million) for intentionally violating European Union sanctions by selling luxury cars to Russia, the country’s tax authority said.
A company run by Belarusian citizens in south-eastern Poland purchased high-end cars in western Europe in 2022-2023 and then exported them to Russia via Poland, Lithuania and Belarus, according to the authority, known as the KAS.
