Mauritius’s government warned it’s considering all options to force the UK to hand over sovereignty of the Chagos Islands, after the British government put the transfer on hold because of US opposition to the deal.
“We shall leave no stone unturned until the issue of the Chagos Archipelago is resolved, diplomatically or otherwise,” Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam told lawmakers in the capital, Port Louis, on Tuesday. His comments came a day before the Indian Ocean island nation’s host UK officials for talks about the issue.
