A plan by Marine Le Pen’s far-right party to scrap renewables and the energy regulator would be a disaster for France, the CEO of giant utility Engie SA said, in one of the sharpest rebukes from a business leader ahead of next year’s presidential election.

“Ideas that are advocated by the National Rally on energy markets are not good for France,” Engie Chief Executive Officer Catherine MacGregor told the French business journalists’ association AJEF in Paris on Tuesday. Ditching the independent energy regulator when projects are largely tied to government decisions would be “a disaster for a company like Engie and for energy in France.”
