Hormuz Traffic Stays at a Trickle of Iran-Aligned Ships
Oil tankers and cargo ships line up in the Strait of Hormuz as seen from UAE.
Photographer: Altaf Qadri/AP PhotoThe Strait of Hormuz remained largely devoid of commercial traffic on Tuesday as Iran continues enforcing a renewed closure of the waterway, leaving only a trickle of small vessels passing through. Most have ties to Tehran but are staying local.
Of those that don’t, yet another oil freighter run by Greece’s Dynacom Tankers Management Ltd. popped up outside of the Persian Gulf, meaning the Athens-based firm has managed to move millions of barrels of petroleum through the waterway when most other owners have balked. The company didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
