Ukraine is still assessing extensive damage caused by Russian drones to a key Druzhba oil pipeline facility, meaning an issue that derailed European Union aid to Kyiv and sanctions on Moscow is set to drag on.

The attack last month caused a storage tank fire that took 10 days to extinguish and damaged numerous pieces of equipment, power cables, transformers, and a leak detection system responsible for pipeline sealing, Ukrainian state energy company Naftogaz Chief Executive Officer Sergii Koretskyi said in an interview. Given the magnitude of the destruction, a full assessment takes time and is expected to be ready soon, he added.
