Ghana’s Cedi Extends 2026 Weakness as Companies Pay Dollar Bills

Ghana’s currency weakened slightly against the dollar on Friday as demand for the greenback rose to pay for imports.

The cedi has depreciated 4.8% since the beginning of the year, the biggest decline among 23 African currencies tracked by Bloomberg. Ghana is the continent’s top gold producer.
