Two people shot by a Customs and Border Patrol agent in Portland, Oregon, Thursday were associated with Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, the city’s police chief said Friday, confirming an earlier account from the Trump administration.

Chief Bob Day said the man and woman were in stable condition in a local hospital, in custody of federal agents. He said the woman was previously arrested for prostitution, and the gang connection came to light from a police investigation of a July shooting.
