Kast Leads Jara 60%-40% With 25% of Votes Counted in Chile

Ultra-conservative candidate José Antonio Kast led Chile’s presidential election on Sunday, positioning the country for a sharp turn to the right after four years of leftist governance.

With 25% of ballots counted, Kast had 60% of the vote, followed by leftist rival Jeannette Jara with 40%, according to electoral body Servel.
