Kenya Pushes for Safaricom Split Despite Plan to Cut Stake

Kenya is keen to press ahead with its plan to split Safaricom Plc into three units even after the government reduces its stake in the mobile-phone operator.

President William Ruto’s administration, which plans to sell a 15% stake in Safaricom to Vodacom Group Ltd., wants to carve East Africa’s biggest company into a mobile-phone tower operator, fintech and telecommunications firm, Treasury Secretary John Mbadi said.
