Chinese retailers Shein and Temu should be barred from selling in Europe until the region has put in place laws to regulate them, according to Philippe Palazzi, chief executive officer of French supermarket group Casino Guichard Perrachon SA.

Speaking in an interview on BFM Business TV on Tuesday, the executive said products sold by the two online retail giants don’t conform to European norms and could pose a danger to consumers. He also said a flood of products, particularly textiles and furniture, could mean the shuttering of small businesses in the region that do follow local regulations.
