Armenia received a cargo shipment through Azerbaijan for the first time in more than three decades, a major step toward reopening regional transport routes blocked by conflict between the two South Caucasus countries.

Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan confirmed that a train carrying about 1,050 tonnes of Russian wheat arrived late Wednesday in an interview with public TV. A further shipment of exports from Kazakhstan was expected to reach Armenia via Azerbaijan and Georgia “in the coming days,” he said.
