Syria Open to Resuming Russian Patrols in South, Kommersant Says

Syria’s transitional government is interested in restoring Russian military police patrols in the country’s southern provinces, according to Kommersant.

The patrols would be aimed at curtailing Israeli military activity in Syria, the Moscow-based newspaper reported Tuesday, citing an unidentified person present at an Aug. 1 meeting in the Russian capital between Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani and the nation’s diaspora there.
