Armenia said Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will hold talks in Washington with US President Donald Trump and Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev, as part of a diplomatic push to try to finalize a peace treaty ending decades of conflict between the two South Caucasus nations.
Pashinyan’s Aug. 7-8 visit aims to “deepen the Armenia-US strategic partnership and contribute to regional peace,” according to a statement Wednesday on the prime minister’s website. He’ll meet with the US president and take part in trilateral talks with Trump and President Aliyev “aiming to advance peace, prosperity and economic cooperation in the region,” it said.
