The British International Investment, the UK’s development finance institution, will provide $100 million financing to KCB Bank Kenya Ltd., boosting the bank’s tier 2 capital to unlock lending for climate projects and women-led businesses in the East African country.
The funding will mainly target women in the informal sector and seek to address systemic challenges, discriminatory policies, and cultural barriers that restrict access to credit, according to an emailed statement.
