ING’s CEO Uses Stringent Test for M&A While Diversifying Lender

ING Groep NV’s Chief Executive Officer Steven van Rijswijk said any potential acquisition would need to help the lender scale domestically or broaden its product capabilities.

The two areas ING focuses on when it looks at acquisitions are “domestic consolidation in the markets in which we are active and product capabilities to broaden the bank,” Van Rijswijk said in an interview at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, adding that the bank identifies possible candidates daily.
