The death toll from a landslide in Myanmar’s Kachin state rose to at least 104 over the weekend, the state-controlled Global New Light of Myanmar reported Monday.
The disaster happened early Saturday when soil removed from a jade mine in the country’s northernmost state collapsed, burying about 70 makeshift huts used by miners, the report said. Many people are still missing, it said.
