SEC Settles Insider-Trading Claims Against Ex-Barclays Analyst

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission agreed to settle insider-trading claims against a former Barclays Capital analyst who allegedly used a tip from a former employee of Applied Materials Inc. to trade on two acquisitions the company was making.
The former analyst agreed to pay $758,000 to resolve the claims, according to a filing in San Francisco federal court.
