A unit of Carlos Slim’s America Movil SAB agreed to pay $40 million to settle U.S. regulators’ claims it deceived millions of consumers about unlimited data service for prepaid phones.
TracFone Wireless Inc. advertised unlimited data plans and then drastically slowed or cut data after consumers used certain fixed amounts in a 30-day period, the Federal Trade Commission said Wednesday in a statement.
