Kobe Bryant had 40 points and eight rebounds as the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Orlando Magic 100-75 in the first game of the National Basketball Association Finals.

Pau Gasol added 16 points for the Lakers, who had a 53-43 halftime lead last night at Staples Center in Los Angeles. The Lakers are seeking their 15th title in the best-of-seven series. The Magic are trying for their first championship.
